Drone selection

Fining is a portable drone with 1080p or better video, high-quality still images is challenging.

The popular brand DJI's portable version is Spark, but it may be too big to fit in a backpack.  However, there are some compact cases for Spark.

SimToo is much more portable, but its reviews on Kickstarter.com are very poor.

Xiaomi Youpin Foldable HD is also very portable, but it does not have an SD card.  It is said to be unstable and has a short control range.

All drones from Chinese companies have inherent security problems.

The DOD's Blue sUAS (Small Unmanned Aerial Systems) has designated 4 manufacturers as secure device providers.  They are primarily for military and enterprise applications, but some provide models targeting consumers.

1. Altavian has no models for consumers.

2. Parrot's ANAFI Drone is relatively inexpensive and highly portable.  It has a long battery time considering its size.  It is a great drone for flying, but probably not for solo activity capturing that requires tracking and collision avoidance that ANAFI lacks.

3. Skydio's Skydio 2 has the best autonomous function.  It is the best drone for capturing activities without requiring a drone pilot, so it is the best for most consumers who wants to record their activities such as biking, skiing, running...

4. Teal's Teal One developed by an 18-year old is for consumers, but it has been discontinued.  The company is focused on its Golden Eagle for the military.

5. Vantage Robotics's target military and commercial customers.
