Mango, or Windows Phone 7.5

Rightfully, there has been a lot of buzz over Mango, the code name for the latest version of Microsoft Windows Phone OS. Its official name is Windows Phone 7.5. Microsoft finally started to roll out updates at about 13:00 EST 2011-09-27. Most current users will get the update by the end of October. The new features are impressive.  For developers, the features of the latest SDK (Windows Phone SDK 7.1) make it irresistible.

Microsoft has offered developers the opportunity to upgrade their phones to Mango.  At this point of time, it is probably unwise for developers to take this offer because such upgrade takes time and voids the warranty, and the backup image would need to be restored for the eventual official update.
