Superfast Android emulator by Intel
Intel's super fast Android emulator has ended the most painful part of Android app development - testing apps on super slow emulators. Intel's Android image is even faster than a real device. To fully take advantage of the emulator, the following steps should be taken:
- Install the image via Android SDK Manager.
- Enable Intel VT-x technology in BIOS.
- Install Intel Hardware Acceleration Execution Manager (HAXM).You can download it within Exclipse (seeConfiguring VM Acceleration on Windows of this page) .
- Disable Hyper-V (Programs and Features > Turn Windows features on or off).
- Set up an emulator using Intel Atom (86) via Android Virtual Device Manager.
This emulator has been found to set a byte variable to a value beyond its legal scope.
After some updates by Intel, the following has happened:
- Intel emulators rely on HAXM. They used to be able to run in a slow mode when HAXM was not running.
- It generates BSOD on Windows 8.1 after running in half an hour or so.
