The case against Amazon

  1. It promotes its Prime membership very aggressively.
  2. I have ordered half a dozen items from Amazon in the past year, but I am not yet eligible to review any of them because I paid for them with my gift card. I do not understand how the payment method is related to the eligibility. The money from my gift card is no different from the money from my credit cards.
  3. One ordered item was defective. The return process was not bad - I just dropped it at a Staples. They promised to send a new one. I did not get the replacement for weeks, so I started to look into it and found out they canceled the replacement order without notifying me. It took some work to get the refund.
  4. The prevents vendors from responding to reviews. I cannot think of any reason for them to do this.
  5. Most of Amazon's profits are from their cloud service, though most of their workers work for their e-Commerce business. I wonder how much Amazon is motivated to improve their e-Commerce.

I have largely stopped buying from Amazon. I am shifting to Walmart.
