The caste-like system in China and its acceptance by the second-class

Rural dwellers are born less privileged than urban dwellers in China. This would be unacceptable in almost all other countries, but Chinese people including the second-class citizens in the countryside do not seem to be bothered by this discrimination. Migrant workers from the countryside do the hardest, the most dangerous work in cities, but receive much lower compensation than their fellow citizens who happen to be born in cities.  They are legally not allowed to live in cities permanently.  They are often mistreated by the police.  Their kids cannot go to normal public schools but have to attend schools specially set up for them with much poorer conditions.

Where is the basic dignity of rural Chinese citizens?  Where is the conscience of urban Chinese citizens?
