Working on Updates 77% complete

As in many aspects of Microsoft products, Windows Updating process apparently pays little attention to the feedback of users. Searching "windows update gets stuck" generates about 23 million results.  I bet that most cases are not getting stuck permanently, but just one updating step taking a very long time.  The last Windows 10 updating process (2018 April update) "got stuck" at 77%  for about 2 hours.  The prior major update was about the same.

Taking a long time to update an OS is not a problem.  It may be a very good thing for the process to take the time to ensure everything is updated correctly.  The problem is not informing the user properly.  The reported percentage is grossly inaccurate.   The part of 1 - 50% may take only 1% of the total updating time while the 1% from 77% to 78% may take 90% of the total time.  Accurately predicting updating percentage can be very challenging, so the updating percentage inaccuracy is understandable.   Solving the problem can very straightforward - showing exactly what the updating process is doing in addition to the percentage.  For example, if it works on a some files, it should show the name of each file like some virus scan software.
