Why did I change my web authoring tool

I used a very popular web page authoring tool for five years and was happy with it mainly because it was very easy to use and was good at organizing files. One day, it stopped working and I am sure it was asking me to upgrade even though I was content with the features it had. This tool is closely integrated with OS and other products of the company, so when other products keep being patched, sooner or later this tool would break. This tool has poor support for platform independent technologies and International standard. Well, I thought it was the right time to switch to a tool that is not integrated with the OS and has strong support for platform independent technologies and International standard. I did. This change led to the dramatic cosmetic change of structure change.
